We miss you.

Jan20

Hate leading with deals in the blog as it smells a little too marketing-fresh for what this thing is supposed to provide. Still, at $99 for a room, a lift ticket and meals, I’m not sure how you could justify doing anything else this weekend (Jan 23-25, 2009). If you’re so inclined, call 800-451-4449. There are stipulations but at this rate, my goodness.

Hotel One. The name game continues…

Jan19

This will be a cool Hotel.  It won’t be enormous.  It won’t be expensive. And it won’t have the bloat and puff that many new Hotels that come online feel they need to make their mark.  I was inside this week and saw configurations of how the lobby and adjoining areas will lay out.  I saw the indoor corridors where you’ll walk to Rental and Demo and then onto Snowsports.  I also saw the restaurant and new bar floor plans.  All responsibly sized and well thought through.  What we don’t yet have is a name.

We’ve all offered contributions but nothing, as yet, has stuck.  As you can imagine, we take these things seriously but know that you do too.  If you come up with something great, something that includes a dot back to the region, to our clientele, to our history and to our brand well, we’ll do something nice for you.  Your Jay Peak Season Pass, next year, is on us.  Oh, and you’ll stay, as our guest, in the Hotel, the still unamed beauty, on night number one.  Put some thought into this.  I’d suggest backing up your entry with some design treatments if you’re so inclined.  Go big and stand out.  Email me directly at swright@jaypeakresort.com with ideas. Entries are due by April 1st.  Good luck.

Crane Your Neck

Jan12

The Hotel One project is going well. Steel structure and Christmas tree were erected just before the holidays, and skiers and riders can now “read” the building.

Hotel One Construction

Hotel One Construction

The picture above is taken from the Flyer corral area – from the south and ski slope side of Hotel One. Ground level from the ski slope side will feature a restaurant, bar, fireplace area, coffee shop, retail space, and fitness center. In front of the building will be ground level terraces – a great spot to enjoy Jay Peak on the kinder days, and the long term on-grade route to the Tram Loading Dock.

If you look at the two stair towers and center structure, you can detect the three levels of hotel suites above the commercial level. In the picture, the crane is delivering floor joists to the first hotel suites level (the ceiling of the commercial level). These three hotel levels contain 57 mixed size hotel suites.

In the next month you will see lobby level wall framing and floor concrete slab pouring on the downhill side (not seen in this picture). Next month and following months will include wall and floor framing for commercial and hotel suites levels. We expect the installation of final roof plywood (“topping out”) to be in early May.

Thanks to DEW and all crews for continuing to work in tough conditions.

Check out the photo of the day

Jan8

Still hammering away here at noon on Thursday.  12-14″ as of first light this am and at least another few inches on the ground since then as it’s been heavy all morning.  Click through to get first look at today’s action.  Check out Meghan.  She’s in Sales.  And she’s pregnant.  With twins.

Weekend looks so good I don’t even want to talk about it.  Seriously.

UPDATED TRAIL MAP

Jan1

Ok, so the new trail map is now live.  It’s still a work in progress and we’ll be making small changes and modifications here and there.  Essentially, here’s what we’ve done.

Deleted the ability to post comments (except for me, Patrol and mtn ops folks).
Added a simple, here’s what’s open chart.
Added a way to filter your views to just Intermediate, advanced, beginner trails.
Added an sliding opacity control button.  This isn’t a big deal, I just wanted to say it.

Like I need to ask for feedback.
